The flowers are blooming, warm air is setting in and there are tons of events and activities to do in the summer with your kids. Here are some ideas below:

  • Go to a park or playground.
  • Go canoeing. A lot of local parks with streams rent these out.
  • Pick Flowers and make a bouquet.
  • Find a local festival, look in our events calendar.
  • Go to a carnival.
  • Go to a local dairy farm for some fresh ice cream, and look at the cows too.
  • Go to a local farm and see the animals.
  • Go to the zoo.
  • Get outside and play sports in the great weather.
  • Go fishing.
  • Make some fun spring time arts and crafts.
  • Play with chalk.
  • Play with water and possibly ass food die to make your own rainbows.
  • Play in the summer rain. Do not forget to jump in the puddles, and make a game of it.
  • Go Roller skating.
  • Go for a bike ride.
  • Bird Watching.
  • Skip stones at a lake.
  • Have a treasure hunt.
  • Lie in the grass and look at the clouds and guess what they look like.
  • Have a flower fight with all of those flowers that have fallen from the trees.
  • Take a nature walk, and collect items you find.
  • Go Letterboxing -type of treasure hunt.
  • Go Geocaching -type of treasure hunt.
  • Decorate for the spring season.
  • Build a teepee.
  • Roll down that grassy hill.
  • Make a maze.
  • Take a train ride and look at the gorgeous spring flowers.
  • Go to a foutain show at Longwood Gardens
  • Look for animal tracks and try and track them down.
  • Play dress up.
  • Have friends over and have a BBQ.
  • Hide and seek.
  • Go paddle boating.
  • Look for bugs.
  • Go camping, even if it is just in your yard.
  • Play some fun outdoor games; capture the flag, tag, red light, green light.
  • Make spring decorations.
  • Fly a remote control plane.
  • Walk along the lake.
  • Take a telescope to a park at night and star gaze.
  • Go hiking.

  • Blow bubbles, get creative and use round things from the house, straws, braclets…
  • Watch planes take off.
  • Make a mud pie.
  • Paint outside.
  • Plant a garden.

  • Open a lemonade stand.
  • Go to the beach.
  • Roast Marshmallows and make Smores by a bonfire. There are a good amount of parks that have fire pits if you do not own one.
